Message from the LRAA President

Hello LRAA members. Spring has sprung! Flowers are blooming and trees are budding. It is such a beautiful time of the year.

Have you seen the new logo yet? It is appearing on LRAA correspondence. Not receiving the email reminders for events and the newsletter? Then head over to the website to make sure you are signed up to receive messages. You can also take a look at the new logo while you are there.

This is another busy time of year for LRAA! Our next speaker series is April 20 at the Drawing Board. Our very own Kim Quirk will be discussing her role as the Chamber President, and how the Chamber has changed over the past year and the future plans and goals for the Chamber.

Know some folks that would make great LRAA members? Then bring them to our annual recruiting event happening April 26 at Amigo’s. Interested people can get a better idea of what Leadership Richardson is, and we can answer any questions they might have. Help us ensure that we have the best folks for Class 39.

Speaking of recruiting folks…now is an excellent time to get your TABC certification (or renew it if it has been over two years) prior to Wildflower Art and Music Festival. As in years past LRAA will help man a beer booth during the festival. Our organization receives a portion of the sales at the booth based on the number of volunteers.

This means we need to have as many folks out there serving as possible. It is always a fun experience! Getting your certification is easy, breezy. There are a number of fast and cheap online programs available. Personally I like www.tabconthefly.com. It won’t take more than a couple of hours even if you read EVERYTHING!

Who is up for a round of golf? The LRAA golf tournament is happening May 10 at Sherrill Park golf course. There are sponsorship opportunities as well as plenty of space for golfers and volunteers.

Finally, as my year as President begins wrapping up, Coby and I are discussing the board and committee roles for next year. If you are interested in joining the board or want to know more about some of the roles and responsibilities, then please reach out to us. We would love to have those that want to continue to serve do so.

All the sign ups and details can be found on the LRAA website. Go check it out and view all the events via the calendar. Can’t wait to see you at the upcoming events!
