Message from the LRAA President

Another year is winding down for the newest best class. As they near graduation this month, LRAA continues to stay busy. With fabulous city events like Cottonwood Arts Festival, Wildflower, and the 150^th anniversary of the city there is plenty to keep busy. Plus we have a few things happening too!

The LRAA Alum of the Year application is now open! We are looking for YOUR nominations of the LRAA member who has made a significant contribution to Richardson. Promise that the application is user friendly. You can find it at https://lraa.wufoo.com/forms/z1soyjcu0o9gzhn Deadline to submit is May 24.

Other exciting events that can be found on the website includes the upcoming Golf Tournament on May 10. There is still room to sign up to play. If golf isn’t your thing, then join us as a volunteer! You can help with the setup or during play or with the after party at the Schlackman’s home. Big thanks to Betty and Stu for allowing us to hold the post-golf awards and dinner at their home once again!

Did you know that LRAA is participating with the city of Richardson’s 150^th birthday celebration? We are sponsoring the citywide Scavenger Hunt! Clues and rules can be found at https://richardson150th.com/scavenger-hunt/. Spoiler alert – for those that did road rally you might, possibly, could, maybe have a good idea what most of the clues reference. Maybe…

Hopefully our paths will cross often this month as we wander the artist tents at Cottonwood…or at the LRAA golf tournament…or as we check out one of the many talented bands at Wildflower. So many options to enjoy this great city! Enjoy a fun filled month no matter where it takes you!

Entry fee is $50 per player. This includes green fee, golf cart, after party, prizes, beverages at the course and at the party, and fun with your LRAA friends. Sign up will be on the LRAA website and look for emails with a link to the sign up.

Sponsorship opportunities available! Sponsors receive recognition as well as signs placed at the tournament and party.

Community Connection Opportunities

May 4 - 5, 2023

Dancing Through Decades, Contemporary Ballet Dallas presents the 2023 Spring Dance Concerts, including performances by students in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and modern. Show 1, Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 6:30 pm includes students from our youngest dancers through level 1, and Show 2, Friday, May 5, 2023, includes students from level 2 and up, including performances by our Contemporary Youth Ballet Company and Contemporary Youth Tap Ensemble Company, as well as some of our Adult Dance students from the school.

On May 6, 2023, The Eisemann Center will host our end-of-year dance recital featuring performances from our leveled dance classes. It's an exciting opportunity for our dancers to showcase their skills and hard work throughout the year, and we can't wait to see them take the stage and shine.

May 7, 2023 - It’s good to be queen (or it was), and the RCB will celebrate all things royal, from the queen of England (Toccata Marziale) to the queen of pop (Beyonce), and the queen of bassoon (featuring Leslie Massenburg, queen of bassoon).

The Warren Center seeks volunteers for its 30^th annual Fantasy Football Draft Night

The draft will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at the Westin Galleria.

There are various volunteer needs at the event, such as setting up the room, being a draft coordinator, helping with registration, and assisting with the silent auction. The Warren Center will provide dinner to volunteers as well as a 2023 Fantasy Football volunteer shirt. Click here to sign up to volunteer.
